Springfield Black Music Month
Black Music month is an annual June celebration of black music and culture, it was initiated by President Jimmy Carter on June 7, 1979, who decreed that June would be the month of Black Music. The official proclamation was later signed in 2016 by President Barack Obama.
The mission of the Springfield Black Music Month Committee is to provide a platform to display the rich artistry of our African American community. This committee has partnered with other local organizations to present an event to include live bands, dance, spoken word, food, art – all reflective of artists from the Springfield/Hartford area.
This project started with a visual identity for the Springfield Black Music Month Committee. We created a landing page for the event along with flyers for promotion.
We added a nostalgic vibe with a grayscale backdrop of black singers and musicians, while using high contrast "ice cream" colors in the foreground. The main typography was arranged at a skew, to suggest the feeling movement.
